Doug Morrow was the Faculty Pianist/Accompanist for the Musical Theatre Department. It began it’s Musical Theatre degree program distinction in 2009. The first 3 years each had one graduate with the musical theatre designation, but the program grew. In 2012 the Capstone/Cabaret Festival began, which included and concert from each student. Audiences and faculty were able to attend the whole day (sometimes 2) enjoying small shows put on by each student. Doug retired from Colorado Mesa University and relocated to West Virginia in the summer of 2022.
Some students have went on to become performers all over the country and some abroad, From Chicago, New York City, Nashville, Seattle, Denver and Los Angeles. Others have went on to teach, start families, move abroad and perform on cruise ships. Around 65 amazing performers have gone through this program and more will continue to grace stages all over the Country, and some around the World. Doug’s little secret, was to wear a tie that matched each performers outfit for their final Capstone performance. If he didn’t have one, he went out & hunted for one to match.
As the photographer, Dawn was blessed to come in and photograph these final projects and to get a group photo of those in this treasured group of students, along with the Musical Theatre Faculty Jeremy Franklin and Doug Morrow.
